Railways to expedite recruitment process despite scam
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee was today believed to have told senior officials of her ministry that the alleged multi-crore job scam could have been prevented and that the recruitment process will be expedited despite the incident.
During the Railway Consultative Committee meeting held here, several members raised the issue to which the minister replied that necessary steps are taken to prevent leakages of question papers, a member who attended the parleys said.
She, however, said the recruitment process will go on and it will be expedited in keeping with the increasing manpower requirement.
The meeting came in the backdrop of the CBI claiming to have unearthed a multi-crore job scam on June 19 involving chairman of RRB Mumbai SN Sharma and several others.
Sharma was arrested for his role in the job scam in which his son and seven others had earlier been apprehended.
G Sethi, senior divisional personnel officer at Raipur, was also arrested today by CBI in connection with the same case. The two will be produced in the CBI Court here tomorrow, CBI DIG V V Lakshmi Narayana said.
