Railways has decided to auction a goat that was abandoned by a without-ticket commuter at Masjid station, Mumbai yesterday. The goat was left behind by his owner after he was asked for the ticket at the Masjid station yesterday afternoon.

According to a ToI report, the passenger was asked to show his ticket at the main line of the station, but when he could not produce the ticket he ran away from the spot leaving the goat at the station. As per railways rules, animals are not allowed to board the trains or on the premises as they can endanger the life of commuters.

As the owner has not turned up to claim the animal, the goat has now been brought to CSMT station and has been kept in the luggage room of the station.

The railways has decided to auction the goat and has set a auction price of Rs 3,000 for the goat. According to the report, no buyer has turned up to buy the goat till yesterday.

The goat's caretakers have named her Basanti.
