Rail Budget 2011: Nitish expresses disappointment

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed disappointment with the Railway budget with regard to 'lack of attention' on safety measures.

PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed disappointment with the Railway budget with regard to 'lack of attention' on safety measures and said adequate attention should be paid in this regard.

"The Railway Minister should pay due attention to the safety measures and whatever was required to be done in this regard must be done," Kumar, himself a Railway minister during the NDA rule, said.

He took a dig at his arch rival Lalu Prasad and said no attention was paid to Railway safety when Prasad was in office.

On Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement that Railway was passing through a financial crunch, Kumar mocked Prasad for claiming a profit of Rs one lakh crore during his stint at the Rail Bhavan and asked "Where did that money go?"

He demanded a probe into the profit claimed to have been made by Railway during Prasad's tenure. "The claim must be exposed."
