Rahul urges youth to join politics

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday called upon the youth to join politics to help solve 'burning issues' in the country, such as terrorism.

SILCHAR: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday called upon the youth to join politics to help solve "burning issues" in the country, such as terrorism.

Interacting with more than 900 students and academics at a closed-door meeting at the Assam Central University here, Gandhi said politics is the ultimate means to solve various problems facing the nation.

"If young people do not enter politics, the development of the country is not possible and it is the responsibility of the youth to solve burning issues, including terrorism," the AICC general secretary told the students.

He said it was not possible to solve any problem without politics and therefore it was "absolutely necessary that students joined it."

The students, who were allowed to ask Rahul questions, told newspersons outside the auditorium at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Mancha later that they were left 'dissatisfied' by the answers to all the questions they asked which was 'join politics to solve your problems'.

Media was not allowed inside the auditorium. Gandhi arrived here by a special flight and went to the venue by helicopter which landed at the premises of the University.
