Rahul to be produced before court

Police to continue questioning Apollo Hospital doctors and late Pramod Mahajan's aide Harish Sharma.

NEW DELHI: After arresting Rahul Mahajan on charges of drug abuse, police will today continue questioning doctors of the Apollo Hospital and late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's aide Harish Sharma in the high-profile case.

Police are planning to produce Rahul in the Patiala House court here to seek his custody for interrogation, but it will depend on Apollo doctors' report on whether he is fit to be discharged.

If the doctors decide not to discharge him, then police will have to take a Magistrate to the hospital to seek his custody.

Continuing the investigation, police will today question doctors in Apollo, where Rahul was taken in a critical condition in the wee hours of Friday, to ascertain the medical condition at the time of his admission and the "line of treatment" they had taken to save him.

They are also expected to be quizzed on the reason behind their decision to make Rahul's medical test records public when the matter was under investigation.

Initially doctors at Apollo had said that Rahul had tested negative for drugs, but examination of urine and blood samples by a private pathological lab showed traces of a cocktail of drugs. Sharma, who had rushed to Rahul's 7 Safdarjung residence after he was informed about his critical condition, would be interrogated for his alleged role in disturbing evidence at the scene of the incident.

Police believe Sharma had ordered cleaning up of the room after the party, which was attended by Karan Ahuja, Tishay Khanna and Rahul Malhotra besides Sahil Zaroo, who according to police procured drugs for Rahul and Moitra.

Sharma has been already been questioned twice in connection with the case.

Police have not arrested or detained Karan, Tishay and Rahul, but have issued them legal notices directing them to the present for questioning as and when required.
