NEW DELHI: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's verified Twitter handle was hacked on Wednesday evening, with a series of offensive tweets being posted on the same.

"@OfficeOfRG hacked. Such lowly tactics will never drown the sane voice of reason nor deter Sh. Rahul Gandhi from raising people's issues," Congress spokesperson Randeep S Surjewala said in a tweet.

A total of eight offensive tweets have been made so far - with one of them promising soon a "full congress exposure of all its
malpractices". Gandhi has been vocal on the demonetisation issue lately. His is a verified Twitter handle with over 1.2 million followers. Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi blamed BJP for the hacking. "BJP hacks keep setting a new low every single day. Yet another way to display their immense frustration and inability to debate on issues. Shameful," Chaturvedi tweeted.
