New Delhi: Congress Parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor said the Rahul Gandhi-led 'Chhatron ki Goonj' (voice of the students) campaign against the paper leak issue failed to resonate with the youth and general public as effectively as the recent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests against the same issue. He said the Congress must think about why this happened.

Tharoor also said the ruling BJP received a "rude wake-up call" from CJP's Jantar Mantar protests and its byelection defeats in Bankipur in Bihar and Datia in Maharashtra.

Speaking at an event in Mumbai on Friday evening, Tharoor reflected on the impact of the CJP protests and the Congress' own campaign. "Issues taken up by the CJP at Jantar Mantar have been taken up by us earlier. We had the 'Chhatron ki Goonj' thing where Rahul Gandhi was addressing students about the paper leaks. But we have to see why it did not resonate as much," Tharoor said.
