JAMMU: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is keen on bringing Kargil on the tourist map of the country, Jammu and Kashmir party chief Saif-ud-din Soz said today.

Rahul is very interested in getting the beautiful valley of Kargil and its adjoin valleys on the tourist map of India and in strengthening air, telecommunication and road connectivity in Kargil region as early as possible, he told a gathering at Kargil.

Soz said he was in Kargil during launch of Mantra Airline service to the cold region as Rahul's representative.

Soz, an MP and former Union Minister, said, "I represented Rahul in the inaugural flight to and fro Kargil operated by Air Mantra."

It was a historic moment to address the gathering in the snow clad Kargil Airport in minus 17 Degree Celsius in company of the Chief Minister and some of his cabinet colleagues.
