Rahul Gandhi to travel abroad to meet grandmother
NEW DELHI: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi announced on Tuesday that he was leaving abroad to spend “a few days” with his maternal grandmother and family members.

Given Gandhi’s track -record of vanishing for over a month, and given the timing of his trip – when political weather in Delhi is shooting up due to Opposition build-up against the government over Presidential polls and farmers’ agitation — his announcement surprised some Congress members and triggered a buzz in other political circles, prompting the BJP to take some potshots. Though there was no official statement about the destination of his trip, the talk in party circles suggest he is headed to Italy.

Gandhi tweeted, “Will be travelling to meet my grandmother & family for a few days. Looking forward to spending some time with them!” There was no clarification as to when he will be back even though the Congress camp claimed his stay abroad may not last more than a week this time.
