Rahul Gandhi to kick off Lok Sabha poll drive in Assam

In 2014, the Congress won just three seats out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state while the BJP won seven seats.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will kick-start his party’s campaign for Lok Sabha polls in Assam on February 26. He will address a rally of party workers in Guwahati and hold a meeting of the North-East Congress Coordination Committee, a platform of party leaders from the seven states in the region.

The leader of opposition in Assam assembly, Debabrata Saikia, told ET, “Rahul Gandhi will address a rally in Guwahati, and with this the campaign for Lok Sabha polls in Assam will begin.”

In 2014, the Congress won just three seats out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state while the BJP won seven seats.


The BJP has already started its election campaign in the state, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing two rallies and party presidentAmit Shah addressing one rally in Assam.
