New Delhi: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will focus on issues such as low procurement price for farm products, rising price of food items and unemployment during his upcoming road yatra of the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

He will attempt to drive home the point that neither the Modi government nor the SP regime could deliver on the promises they made to the important social segments like farmers and youth. Reminiscent of the ambitious “road shows” he had undertaken ahead of the 2012 UP assembly polls, this time too he is planning a major outreach, a mahayatra from Deoria in eastern UP to Delhi from September 6, traversing 233 assembly constituencies.

There have been reports that Gandhi’s tour may also take him to Ayodhya, the temple town and the epicenter of the BJP’s Ram temple movement. “He would visit whatever places that would come in between and not to create any controversy out of it” Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC general secretary in-charge of UP, said.

He said Gandhi would travel through 39 districts of UP covering 2,500 km in the month-long exercise.
