Rahul Gandhi to begin 10-day America tour on May 31

Earlier this year, Rahul Gandhi had visited the UK and participated in a number of programmes. During his UK trip, several of Gandhi's statements had stoked furious controversy in India, with the BJP mounting vicious attacks on him.

Rahul Gandhi to visit US on May 31 for 10 days ahead of PM Modi’s State visit
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will arrive in USA on May 31 for a 10-day trip, ANI reported on Tuesday quoting sources.

Gandhi will hold a rally of 5,000 NRIs in New York's Madison Square Garden on June 4, sources told the news agency.

He will also go to Washington and California for a panel discussion and speech at Stanford University.


During his trip, Gandhi is set to meet politicians and entrepreneurs.

The Congress leader's trip comes weeks ahead of PM Modi's America tour, which is set to be a keenly-watched event.

Modi will embark on an official state visit to the US on June 22. During the visit, Modi will be hosted by President Biden at a state dinner at the White House, according to a statement released a few days ago.

On April 11, Gandhi was disqualified from his position as a Member of Parliament after his conviction in a defamation case. He was disqualified in accordance with Article 102(1)(e) of the Indian Constitution read with Section 8 of the Representation of People Act, 1951.
