In a tweet yesterday, Rahul Gandhi floated the idea of forming a joint parliamentary committee to oversee the alleged misappropriation in the Rafale deal.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley denied allegations over price of the fighter planes, procedure followed in sealing the deal with France, and favouring of a private industrialist.

He also made counter-allegations of delaying the deal by more than a decade during the UPA rule, launching a false campaign and trying to delay the procurement despite there being a need for the forces to improve their combat ability.

Earlier in the day addressing a press conference, Rahul categorically stated that the whole aim of demonetisation was to help a few capitalists.
