“China is expanding its occupation into Indian territory. Mr 56” hasn’t said the word ‘China’ for months. Maybe he can start by saying the word ‘China’," Gandhi tweeted on Monday.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence, as he reacted to reports of a recent skirmish between Indian and Chinese forces in Sikkim, and lamented that China is expanding its occupation of India’s territory. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) also demanded that the PM take the nation into confidence about the border situation.

“China is expanding its occupation into Indian territory. Mr 56” hasn’t said the word ‘China’ for months. Maybe he can start by saying the word ‘China’," Gandhi tweeted on Monday.

Gandhi also sought to link China’s actions and the government’s ruptured relations with the agitating farmers. “India’s strength is a strong economy, employed youth and social harmony. Had Modi protected our farmers-labourers-workers instead of hollowing out India by helping his crony capitalist friends, China wouldn’t have had the guts to take our land,” he said.

AICC spokesman Randeep Surjewala said the PM’s “mysterious silence” on Chinese encroachments and intrusions on the border was “enhancing the enemy's confidence”.

He urged the PM to speak up on the latest border situation, told him not to be scared of China and assured that the whole nation will strongly fight. “National security is not a game of hide and seek, the situation is serious. Take the nation into confidence,” Surjewala tweeted in Hindi.
