I challenge you to an open debate about this... Come if you have the guts: Rahul to Modi

NEW DELHI: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by asking "who is secretly meeting whom abroad" and "whom are the anti-India forces supporting", Gandhi on Monday responded by claiming that Modi was "lying" and alleged that he became the prime minister "because of foreign help".

Gandhi said he was ready for a debate on the issue. To Modi's accusation last Saturday that the Opposition had become an "obstructionist force" using "social media as a weapon to spread rumours", Gandhi responded by alleging that "foreign social media fully backs" the prime minister.

"Mr Modi, stop lying to this nation. You became PM because of foreign help. You remain PM because of foreign help. Your financial system is fully controlled and supported by foreigners. Foreign social media fully backs you. I challenge you to an open debate about this. Any stage, any time. Come if you have the guts. You won't dare, because you are terrified of what I know about you," Gandhi said in a social media post, sharing a news item about the PM's attack on him and the Opposition.

Modi made his charges while addressing an event in Gujarat on the occasion of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31.
