Rahul Gandhi is Congress' leader for 2014 elections: Sushil Kumar Shinde, Home Minister

NEW DELHI: Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Wednesday said Rahul Gandhi was the Congress Party leader for the 2014 general elections and took a swipe at the ongoing deliberations in the BJP to appoint Narendra Modi as their Prime Ministerial candidate saying any tom, dick or harry could announce a PM candidate.

“PM candidate can be announced by any small or big political party...tomorrow any Ramu, Shamu or Dhamu (tom, dick or harry) can do this. That means nothing and is an internal matter of the BJP. But our leader is Rahul Gandhi, we have already said that,” Shinde said, when asked that BJP may soon announce Modi as their PM candidate.

Shinde also said that he had warned 11 states earlier that many political parties could indulge in riots as polls near.
