Rahul Gandhi has lost his mental balance; he needs medical treatment: BJP

NEW DELHI: Stung by Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against PM Modi, a rattled BJP hit back at him saying he has “lost his mental balance” and challenged him to either come out with evidence to back his charge or apologise to the nation.

BJP minister and party office-bearers appeared visibly miffed at Gandhi. The anger was obvious in the choice of words used against the Congress leader. “Rahul Gandhi has lost his mental balance. He needs medical treatment. He has levelled completely baseless and false allegations against the Prime Minister.

He should without any hesitation reveal any fact he has to back his charges or apologise to the nation,” BJP National Secretary Srikant Sharma said.

Gandhi had claimed at a press conference that he has proof of political corruption involving the prime minister and this is the reason he is being denied an opportunity by the government to speak in the Lok Sabha.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar also dismissed Gandhi’s charges as baseless and dared him to come out with details if he has any. “The charge against PM is zero. It is a damp squib, null and void. If Rahul Gandhi says our Prime Minister does not know anything about black money, he is right.

It is Rahul who knows everything about black money,” Kumar said. He also reasoned that if Gandhi wanted to expose the PM, he could have used the debate on the Taxation Bill to do so.

Kumar and HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said it is Rahul Gandhi who has a habit of “going missing” for 50 days — a reference to his holiday soon after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Javadekar said it was a case of “ulta chor kotwal ko daate (the pot calling the kettle black)” and “chor machaye shor (The thief calling other thief).”
