GUWAHATI: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said RSS is trying to disrupt his 30-day yatra (march) in Uttar Pradesh and hence slapping cases to dissuade the party from raising the voice of farmers, workers and unemployed.

Gandhi on Thursday appeared before the court of chief judicial magistrate (kamrup metro) in connection with defamation case filed by RSS volunteer Anjan Bora. Gandhi had alleged that RSS stopped his entry inBarpeta Satra (monastery) during his visit to Assam in December last year.

Bora filed the criminal defamation case accusing Gandhi of tarnishing the image of the organisation. Angshuman Bora, the counsel for Rahul told ET, “Court has granted bail to Rahul on Personal Recognizance Bond. The next date of hearing is fixed on November 5.” On November 5, the detailed explanation of the case will be presented to the court.

Rahul said, “It is in my DNA I will keep on fighting against RSS ideology of division in the name of religion, caste and creed. These cases are being put against me because I am fighting for the poor people, farmer and unemployed. Put as many case as you want, I will keep on fighting and will not get dithered." He said government is running for the interests of 15 to 20 people.
