In his tweet, Rahul characterised the deal as the 'Great Rafale Robery.'
Mincing no words, Congress president, Rahul Gandhi tweeted proposing formation of a joint parliamentary committee to look into the alleged misappropriation in the Rafale deal. In his tweet he characterised the deal as #Great Rafale Robbery.

Rahul also asked Arun Jaitley to revert back in the next 24 hours, with a decision to form such a committee, which will look into the nuances of the deal and sort it all out.

In a Facebook blog, Jaitley today refuted Congress' allegation that the government had benefited Anil Ambani's Reliance group, saying "Government of India has no contract whatsoever with any private industry in relation with the Rafale aircraft supplies". He said any Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) under the offset policy of the UPA can select any number of Indian partners, both from the private sector and the public for offset supplies.

BJP president Amit Shah, was quick to respond, as he added," Why wait 24 hours when you already have your JPC-Jhoothi Party Congress."

Speaking on the Rafale deal, finance minister, Arun Jaitley assured that the governmment had nothing to do with the selection of partners for offset supplies.

Earlier in the week, Anil Ambani's Reliance group, had slapped "Cease and Desist" notices on many Congress leaders asking them not to make false and defamatory statements on the deal.

During a media interaction earlier today, Anil Ambani clarified, saying he has personally written to Rahul Gandhi that the Congress has been misled by vested interest & corporate rivals on Rafale Deal. All Rafale allegations are baseless and truth alone will triumph.
