Days after Republican candidate and business tycoon Donald Trump sealed the deal as the 47th President of the United States and Democrat runner Kamala Harris conceited defeat in the 2024 election, LoP Rahul Gandhi wrote both a letter on Thursday. While the Congress leader congratulated Trump on his victory for a second term as POTUS, he noted that India-US relations "deepened" under the Biden-Harris administrations.

"The people have placed their trust in your vision for the future," wrote Gandhi in his letter for Trump. "India and the United States share a historic friendship rooted in our commitment to democratic values. Under your leadership, we are confident that our nations will further deepen cooperation in areas of mutual trust. I also hope that we continue to work towards expanding avenues and opportunities for both, Indians and Americans," the letter further reads.

Meanwhile, the letter to current Vice President of the US Kamala Harris touched an emotional note as the world will be saying goodbye to her as VP on January 20, 2025 when Trump and his administration will be sworn into office.

"Your unifying message of hope will continue to inspire many. Under the Biden administration, India and the United States have deepened on issues of global importance. Our shared commitment to democratic values will continue to to guide our friendship. As Vice President, your determination to bring people together and find common ground will be remembered," the 55-year-old Congress leader's letter reads.

Gandhi concluded his letter to both by wishing them luck - as the new US President to Trump, and for all her future endeavours for Harris.

Donald Trump secured his position as the next US President on Tuesday after a polling day that saw very close margins between the two parties. Harris conceited her defeated on Wednesday which paved the way for a comparatively smooth transfer of power in January to Trump and his administration with JD Vance as his Vice President.
