Rahul Gandhi confident INDIA bloc will combat alleged injustice by BJP, RSS

Kolkata: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday expressed confidence that INDIA bloc will combat the alleged injustice meted out by BJP and RSS in the country. This statement comes a day after Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee announced her decision to go solo in the Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, entered West Bengal from Assam through Bakshirhat in Cooch Behar district.

"BJP and RSS are spreading violence and hatred, and INDIA bloc is created to spread love. I have come to West Bengal to listen to the people here," Gandhi said.

"We have added the word 'nyay' (justice) in the rally as there is widespread injustice across the country," Gandhi said during his public rally in Cooch Behar.


Meanwhile, Trinamool's parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, said Banerjee is "enough for West Bengal" and there is hardly any need for any yatra in the state. The yatra will take a short break and resume on January 28. Congress' Jairam Ramesh confirmed this on his X handle.

West Bengal Pradesh Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury alleged that the police did not cooperate. He said that the "dais was not built at the place it was scheduled". There were reports of mismanagement and overcrowding as the yatra entered Cooch Behar.
