Rahul Gandhi-backed nominee Amrinder Singh Brar is new Punjab PCC chief

The AICC on Saturday ight announced Rahul Gandhi backed former Youth Congress president Amrinder Singh Brar alias Raja Warrior as the New President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president . He succeeds Navjyot Singh Sidhu, who was made to resign after the party's poll debacle. Former PCC chief Pratap Singh Bhajwa has been appointed Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader.

Amrinder, the sitting MLA, beat Sidhu and SS Randhawa to bag the PCC presidentship. Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Rajkumar Chabbewal have been made PCC working president and deputy CLP leader respectively thus making it a brand new Punjab Congress leadership. Notably, former CM Charanjit Singh Mann too has been ignored in the new leadership team.
