Watch: Rahul Gandhi targets PM Modi over Lokpal Bill
Congress President Rahul Gandhi today attacked the Prime Minister and the BJP for not taking action even four years after the Lokpal Act was passed in Parliament.

Gandhi posted an image of a tweet by the Prime Minister from December 2013, and asked him when the false promises will stop.

"Are the ‘defenders of democracy’ & ‘harbingers of accountability’ listening?" he asked.

The Lokpal and and Lokayuktas Act was enacted in 2013.

The Act was amended in 2016 to allow extension of the time given to public servants and trustees and board members of NGOs receiving government funds of more than Rs 1 crore or foreign funding of more than Rs 10 lakh to declare their assets and those of their spouses.

In October, Anna Hazare, whose anti-corruption protest attracted a huge outpouring of support in 2011, threatened a rerun of his crusade as he denounced the Modi government over its "failure" to appoint a Lokpal and create a graft-free India.
