The party plans to crowdsource its manifesto from people in a transparent manner to know what they wish and constituency-wise manifestos will be brought out with “feasible” promises to address local issues.
New Delhi:Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has asked its Rajasthan unit led by Sachin Pilot to come up with a “realistic and honest” set of promises that the party can put in its election manifesto for the assembly elections due later this year. This comes as Congress prepares to kick off its three-tier campaign in Rajasthan in April.

“We will make promises in the realm of reality and not ‘jumlas’ (fake promises) like those of the BJP,” Pilot told ET in Delhi.

“There will be no over commitment to avoid backlash like on the issue of reservations that the Rajasthan government faced.”

Pilot said Congress will share with the electorate its vision to bring investment and industry to Rajasthan. “The area around Jaipur can be developed as an IT hub, very much like Gurgaon (in Haryana).

The present environment of social unrest and violence has dampened the atmosphere of investment. An RTI shows even 5% of the target could not be achieved by BJP’s ‘Resurgent Rajasthan’ campaign that had promised Rs 3.5 lakh crore of investments,” Pilot said.

He said Congress will crowdsource its manifesto from people in a transparent manner to know what they wish and constituency-wise manifestos will be brought out with “feasible” promises to address local issues.

“The idea is to not shift goalposts like BJP did from 2019 to 2022 on delivery of schemes,” Pilot said.
