Rahul Gandhi and Amit Shah to address party workers rally in Assam

GUWAHATI: After completions of Bihar elections electioneering is all set to start in Assam as BJP president Amit Shah and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will sound poll bugle for their parties in Assam.

After defeat in Bihar assembly polls verdict of which came out early this month Shah who is drawing ire of senior leaders in the party will for the first time address a party workers rally in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district on November 27.

Rahul Gandhi who was slated to visit Assam on November 26 and 27 has postponed his visit and he is likely to visit on December 11 and 12. A senior leader in Pradesh congress committee stated that Rahul has deferred his visit following winter session of parliament.

Shah’s meeting will be attended by booth level worker. A senior BJP leader who do not want to be quoted said, “Shah will finalise the strategy for Assam polls slated for early next year. BJP is aiming to form the next government in Assam.”

The leader added that Shah’s visit will be a morale boaster for party workers who received shock after party’s defeat in Bihar polls.

Congress in Assam which is ravaged by growing desertion is charged up after the Bihar verdict. Congress is calming that Bihar verdict will have effect in Assam polls.

The BJP leader added, “Success in Assam is important for BJP for the party cannot get major foothold in Northeast India without capturing power in Assam.”
