NEW DELHI: The Congress has submitted notices for moving breach of privilege motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad even as ally RJD did the same against Attorney General KK Venugopal. The Opposition has accused the trio of misleading Parliament and Supreme Court in the Centre’s affidavit on the Rafale deal by making claims about a non-existent CAG report.

The BJP retaliated by using the same parliamentary device against the Congress chief, accusing him of making factually incorrect statements about the price of the Rafale aircraft while speaking in the Lok Sabha. It also submitted notice on a breach of ethics motion against Gandhi.

In his notices of breach of privilege and ethics against the PM, Congress LS member Sunil Jakhar said: “It has become clear that to defend its controversial stand on the pricing details and guidelines, the government presented wrong information to the apex court. The basis of the SC order on the Rafale deal was a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General, which is non-existent and not shared with the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee.”
