Mumbai: The deadline set by Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil to the Mahayuti government to include the Maratha community under the OBC category expired today. Jarange said the ruling parties would face such a heavy defeat in the assembly polls that they would 'forever repent' if his demands were not implemented.

Maharashtra assembly polls are to be held in October-November.

"We would put candidates in all the 288 constituencies of the state and ensure that all their (ruling party MLAs) lose the elections. We don't want to enter politics, but if we put up candidates then 100% you (ruling parties) would be defeated. The defeat would be such that the ruling alliance would be repenting for life if they don't accept our demands," warned Patil. He had given a deadline of July 13 to the state government to implement two of his demands, including putting all Marathas in the OBC category by recognizing them as Kunbis.
