Quota has to pass the test of rationality, fairness: SC

A Supreme Court bench observed this when the Centre contended that quota for the backward classes was recognised by the Constitution.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court said the law providing 27% quota to OBCs in educational institutions has to pass the test of equality and fairness.

"The touchstone of rationality and fairness is the test which the law has to pass," a bench observed when the Centre contended that quota for the backward classes was recognised by the Constitution.
