Quota for President, VP in urban local bodies in Karnataka in a week

BANGALORE: Karnataka Government would announce reservation for the posts of president and vice-president in urban local bodies in a week, state Minister for Municipal Administration Qamar ul Islam said today.

In a reply to BJP floor leader Jagadish Shettar during zero hour in the Assembly, he said guidelines for reservation of posts of president and vice-president in city municipal councils, town municipal councils and town panchayats would be announced in a week.

Several members, including Shettar and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa (KJP), sought to take the Minister to task for "delay" on the issue of reservation as elections were held to these urban local bodies in March.
