Quit Karnataka govt, Uddhav tells BJP

BJP should be ready to quit the HD Kumaraswamy-led Karnataka government to show that the party supports the Marathi-speaking populace in Karnataka’s border with Maharashtra.

MUMBAI: BJP should be ready to quit the HD Kumaraswamy-led Karnataka government to show that the party supports the Marathi-speaking populace in Karnataka’s border with Maharashtra, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray has said.

“Karnataka government is trying to rub salt on the wounds of Marathi-speaking people by planning a three-day legislature session in Belgaum,” Uddhav said in a statement published party mouthpiece ‘Saamna’ on Sunday.

“If anything untoward happens as a result of the Belgaum session, its repercussions will be felt in Maharashtra,” Uddhav warned.

“The responsibility of avoiding injustice on Marathi-speaking people of Karnataka lies with our ally, the BJP,” he said. The Sena executive president said, “I consider that BJP leaders in Maharashtra support Marathi-speakers in Karnataka’s border areas. BJP should take care to avoid causing injustice to them.
