Questions on democracy intolerable: MoS Jitendra Singh
JAMMU: Amid raging protests in JNU and Jadavpur University, Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said the situation becomes "intolerable" if questions are raised on democracy.

"I can just say that we must remain within our limits. Every country has to maintain its dignity, honor and sovereignty.

"It is understood by everybody and this happens in every country and democracy...if questions are raised on democracy and republic, then it becomes intolerable," the Minister of State in PMO told reporters when asked about the protests in the two varsities.

Singh also questioned Congress' stand on the JNU row and asked it to make it clear whether it supported " anti-India activities".

"First of all we need to ask Congress leaders what their stand is...are they supporting this...whether they are supporting any such incident where the motherland is being insulted. If it is so, then they must answer the entire nation, they are answerable to 1.25 crore Indians," Singh said.

Asked what action will be taken against those who raised anti-India slogans, he said, "The administration will take appropriate action as per the law of the land."

On the attack on journalists at a Delhi court, Singh said, "I think good sense will prevail on everybody."

He, however, parried a query on the formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reacting to National Conference's working president Omar Abdullah's statement that innocent Kashmiri students should not be harassed, he said "Only Omar Sahib can reply to it, I have no such information and neither any such case has come (to light) where anybody has been harassed," he said.
