Quake relief: BJP hails government initiatives in India, Nepal

BJP said the Centre is making all-out efforts to rehabilitate and provide relief to the affected people and PM Modi is monitoring the situation personally.

NEW DELHI: Appreciating the steps taken by the government in the wake of the massive earthquake hitting several states and Nepal, BJP today said the Centre is making all-out efforts to rehabilitate and provide relief to the affected people and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is monitoring the situation personally.

BJP national spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri said the government is using all its resources for relief operations and while thousands of tonnes of relief material has already been sent, special teams of disaster management are on ground helping the people of Nepal.

He said relief operations in affected states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and other states is taking place on war footing and the Prime Minister is personally monitoring the situation.

Shastri said the Prime Minister is regularly in touch with the Prime Minister and President of Nepal as well as chief ministers of the affected states in India. He said the Prime Minister through his "Maan Ki Baat" programme has assured the people that he was with them in their hour of need.
