Purnea MP Pappu Yadav forms new Jan Adhikar Party
Purnea MP Pappu Yadav on Tuesday declared the formation of a new party, the Jan Adhikar Party (JAP).

He said while the party had already decided to contest 60-80 seats in the Bihar Assembly, a decision on whether to contest 243 seats will be taken later this week.
On Janata Parivar merger, Pappu Yadav said, “Lalu Prasad Yadav feels that he owns the Yadavs and Muslim vote bank, while Nitish Kumar after building his whole career and image on abusing Lalu Prasad as the worst kind of gangster is now tying up with him. The opportunism of this alliance is astounding,” he said. He appealed to Rahul Gandhi to “come out of this unholy alliance” where the latter “was only being used.” Incidentally, Yadav’s wife Ranjeeta Ranjan is a Congress MP from Supaul.
Yadav struck a softer tone on Prime Minister Modi saying that people like Sakshi Maharaj and Yogi Adityanath were distracting the government “from the agenda of development.”
