Punjab University to honour Bindra

CHANDIGARH: Abhinav Bindra's historic gold medal at the Beijing Olympics continues to earn applause and incentives for the ace shooter, who will be conferred with a medal and cash prize of Rs one lakh by the Punjab University on his return to the country.

"The award and medal has been announced in recognition of the victory and honour which Abhinav Bindra has brought to the city and the nation by winning gold medal at Olympics," University vice-Chancellor Dr R C Sobti said.

"It is indeed a matter of pride and honour for every Indian that one of us has proved to be matchless," he added.
