Punjab to set up special courts for women, NRIs: Sukhbir

To deliver justice in a time-bound manner to women and NRIs, the Punjab government will set up special courts in the state soon.

FATEHGARH SAHIB: To deliver justice in a time-bound manner to women and NRIs, the Punjab government will set up special courts in the state soon.

This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal while inaugurating a lawyers' complex in the district courts here.

The process of setting up special courts is in the advanced stage of completion, he said adding these will become functional soon.

Badal said the state government had in recent months spent Rs 120 crore on construction and upgradation of district and local courts.

New modern judicial complexes will come up in the state and the process to purchase land in this regard has been initiated, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Rs 70 crore will be spent to purchase land and for construction of new judicial complexes.
