Punjab government to continue pro-poor schemes: Minister

A state minister said the SAD-BJP government is committed to continue with its pro-poor schemes and shall fulfil all promises made in the election manifesto.

GURDASPUR: Slamming the Congress for carrying out a false propaganda on Punjab's economic condition, a state minister today said the SAD-BJP government is committed to continue with its pro-poor schemes and shall fulfil all promises made in the election manifesto.

In a false propaganda the Congress has raised questions over the state's financial condition, whereas the BJP-SAD government has already given final touches to blueprint for the pro-poor schemes, Punjab Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia told reporters here.

The allegations of Congress state chief Amarinder Singh in this context failed to make an impact on people, as SAD-BJP coalition registered a thumping victory in the recent state polls, he added.

Majithia said that state government would achieve a historic milestone by computerising all land records within six months.

Instructions have been issued to provide solar energy backup to all government buildings, educational institutions, hospitals by 2020, he said, adding that 10 per cent of total generated power would come from non-conventional sectors.

He said that within the next two years, 30 more biomass plants would produce 220 MW power for the state.
