Punjab government allows House tax arrears deposition by August 17

CHANDIGARH: City dwellers of Punjab got little relief today when the government announced that they could deposit arrears of house tax, due up to March 31, 2013, without interest and penalty by August 17 this year.

They have been given an option to deposit one time amount and enjoy this relaxation, Punjab's Local Government Minister, Anil Joshi said.

He said that all residents, who have to pay arrears of house tax due up till March 31, 2013, can deposit the same without penalty and interest to their respective Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats by August 17.

The Minister in a release here clarified that after the due date, punitive action would be taken against defaulters.
