Punjab Forest and Wildlife Preservation Department plans 'wildlife atlas'
The atlas would give tourists information about wildlife in the state, especially in Shiwalik area which has more than 300 species of birds.

An official spokesperson of the department said this atlas will focus on those animals which are on the verge of extinction and also those whose strength has been reduced due to poaching activities and environmental changes.
The spokesperson said with the atlas, tourists would get first-hand information about wildlife in the state, especially in Shiwalik area which alone has more than 300 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles, 55 species of fish and 19 species of wild animals.
The atlas will also contain maps which will be useful in locating the exact habitat of animals, it was informed.
