The system will be available 24 hours so that citizens can avail of it at any time without worry, said Dr Atul Zende senior court manager.
To bring transparency to cash transactions, the Pune district court administration is starting an e-payment facility in the Shivajinager district and sessions court. This is the first time in India that practising lawyers and litigants in various cases will be able to make payments online. The facility will be available into the nazar (clerical) offices in the court and civil lawyers and litigants can pay court fees, various fines, penalties, judicial deposits, rent, maintenance, etc. The court administration informed that the e-payment facility will be available on https://pay.ecourts. gov.in/epay/

Elaborating on the initiative, senior court manager Dr Atul Zende said, "The Pune district and sessions court is the first in India to launch the e-payment system. There will be no extra charges for transactions till Rs 2,000; over and above that, charges will be levied. A receipt of payment will be issued and this entire system will bring transparency to the transactions as litigants will know the exact amount to be paid as a fine or cost. The system will be available 24 hours so that citizens can avail of it at any time without worry."

"Initially, we are launching it as a pilot project - we have come to an agreement with State Bank of India. While on the website, the person making the e-payment will get a unique case number record (CNR) which will remain the same till matter is disposed of," the court official added.

The court will be providing a video user manual on the website, available in both English and Marathi.

Chief justice of Bombay High Court RK Menon will officially inaugurate the E-payment system on December 15. After this, the district administration will be installing point of sale machines (POS) in the district court for card payments as well. The facility will work in lieu of cash and both debit and credit cards will be accepted in the court.
