Puducherry Planning Board to meet tomorrow

The Lt Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh has convened the meeting of the State Planning Board here tomorrow in his capacity as chairman.

PUDUCHERRY: The Lt Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh has convened the meeting of the State Planning Board here tomorrow in his capacity as chairman of the Board to discuss and shape the draft plan outlay (2013-2014) of Union Territory.

Chief Minister N.Rangasamy who is the Vice Chairman of the Board, his ministerial colleagues, MPs elected from Puducherry V.Narayanasamy and P.Kannan, and officials would participate in the deliberations, official sources said today.

The territorial Assembly had at its brief session recently adopted Vote on Account Bill earmarking as much as Rs 1193.34 crore to the government from out of the Consolidated Fund for the first four months from April this year to enable the departments to meet their routine expenditure pending finalization of the annual plan.

Puducherry Administration is already hard pressed for funds and several avenues are being tapped including hike in the power tariff to strengthen the financial position as the commitments had scaled up on various counts.
