Puducherry Assembly speaker re-assembles Assembly for deputy speaker election on Nov 2

Puducherry Assembly has been resassembled for a brief monsoon session on Nov 2 by the Speaker V Sabapathy through a notification.

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Assembly has been resassembled for a brief monsoon session on November 2 by the Speaker V Sabapathy through a notification

Election of the Deputy Speaker and induction of newly elected member A Tamilselvane (AINRC) will be important business taken up that day, assembly sources said.

The Assembly has strength of 30 members, including the Speaker. The AINRC has 15, Congress seven, AIADMK five, DMK two and Independent one.

This is the second Assembly session after the Rangasamy headed AINRC government was formed in May.

The first was held between August and September when the House passed the 2011-12 budget.

The House is meeting in the backdrop of important developments like AINRC retaining Indira Nagar constitucney in the Oct 13 and successful election of its nominee Tamilselvane (nephew of the Chief Minister). AINRC's strength has risen from 14 to 15 through the win of the party in the by poll.
