PSLV launch proves India's commercial competence

The successful launch of the PSLV-C8 has proved Indian space programme's commercial competitiveness and reliability.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The successful launch of the PSLV-C8 carrying Italy's Agile satellite has proved Indian space programme's commercial competitiveness and reliability, a senior official said on Wednesday.

The launch marks a new beginning which will attract prospective clients to India for the commercial launch of satellites, said Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) director B N Suresh.

We feel jubilant as this has made us confident to take up more commercial launches in future. This was the first time that we commercially launched a foreign satellite using our vehicle from our soil, Suresh said on returning from Sriharikota.

The Advanced Avionics Module (AMM), launched with Agile, had functioned as expected and would be used in future PSLVs, GSLVs and MARK-III launches, he said.

Suresh and his colleagues were given a rousing reception at the Thiruvananthapuram airport by VSSC employees.
