NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha witnessed a noisy protest on Tuesday, leading to an adjournment of the House, when Congress-led opposition parties took on the ruling side by citing BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde’s allegedly derogatory remarks against Mahatma Gandhi made a day earlier.

As soon as the House assembled, Congress MPs, along with those of DMK, NCP and the Left parties, raised the matter and accused the ruling side of indulging in “Godse politics”, even as Congress MPs entered the well of the House by raising slogans. Congress’ Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said: “I have no expectations from people who are doing Godse politics.”

Parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi said members of BJP were real “bhakts (devotees) of Gandhi” while “Congress is now a follower of “nakli (fake) Gandhi”.
