Protests in Assam over lynching of rape accused
GUWAHATI: A series of protests continued for a second day in different parts of Assam following the public lynching of a rape accused in Nagaland. Human rights advocacy Amnesty International India has demanded a probe into the incident.

Syed Farid Khan, who hails from Karimganj in Assam and was running a business in Dimapur, had been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in Dimapur on February 24.

There were highway blockades in different areas of Assam with irate public demanding an investigation into the incident. Truckers in Assam refused to ply their vehicles from Guwahati to Dimapur and other parts of Nagaland.
