Protest to end after separate AIIMS for Jammu announced: JKNPP

JAMMU: Accusing the BJP of making false promises on the issue of AIIMS, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party ( JKNPP) today said the ongoing agitation for AIIMS would end only after Centre issues an order establishing the institute in the region.

"The people of Jammu region would not relent till appropriate written orders are issued by the Union Government on the subject in consonance with the provisions of AIIMS Act 1956," JKNPP Chairman Harsh Dev Singh said.

The Act provides for the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

He said the people of Jammu region would no longer be hoodwinked by the BJP's alleged gimmicks and false assurances.

Singh alleged that misleading statements and rejoinders issued by the BJP leaders one after the other has antagonised people of the region resulting in intensification of the agitation.

He alleged that incongruous statements were made by the union health minister and state health minister creating a situation wherein 'left hand is not aware of what right hand is doing'.

Ridiculing the statement of state health minster that the "state will have two equal AIIMS", Singh said the minister had not only exceeded his brief but had made a desperate effort to sabotage the agitation by his deceptive statements.
