'Protest should be hamper judicial work'

GURGAON: Judicial work should not be hampered by advocates asking for their demands to be met as there are numerous other ways to protest, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice S K Kaul said here today.

Justice Kaul, who was here to inspect the Lok Adalat organised as part of National Lok Adalat, advised the lawyers not to disrupt the court work as there can be other ways of protesting.

All issues can be resolved through negotiations, he said. District and Session Judge of Gurgaon Shekher Dhawan told the Chief Justice that 16,787 cases have been settled in various courts of Gurgaon from September 1 2013 to till date, including today's Lok Adalat.

An amount of Rs 1,32,78,410 has been recovered under the head of "Compensation and Fine Recovery".

Justice Kaul met the lawyers, who informed him about the problems faced by them.

The Chief Justice said that Gurgaon should have a new modern court complex befitting the status of ' Cyber City', the name by which the district is known world over.

He said that he would take up the matter with the state government so that construction is started at the earliest.
