Protest in Bangalore against ban on music, dancing at pubs
People of various walks of life on Sunday staged a protest against the police imposing a ban on playing of live music and dancing at pubs in the city.
The protestors, who included celebrities like Girish Karnad and Prasad Bidappa, today came down heavily on the police imposing ban on playing of live music and dancing at pubs.
The protestors contended that music was an expression of oneself and clamping a ban was akin to clamping on one's personal freedom.
The protestors, who carried placards saying 'give our freedom back', wondered how listening to recorded music was permissible, but not listening to live music.
Police had earlier enforced a 11.30 pm deadline, which was followed by a ban on dancing and live music performances, including karaokes.
