Probe ordered into secondary board exams

LUCKNOW: The Department of Secondary Education in Uttar Pradesh has ordered a probe into complaints that some outsiders had answered the papers for some of the toppers in the board examination this year.
"The answer sheets of the toppers will be re-evaluated and their handwriting will also be tallied with the writing on their answer sheets," Director of Secondary Education Sanjay Mohan said.
Apart from looking into the role of invigilators, evaluators and examiners, sources said the probe would also see whether flying squads were sent to those institutions on the days the toppers appeared in the board examination.
This year, three girl students from a college in the state has secured the top three merit positions in the intermediate examination.
Similary in the high school examination, three students of a college in Barabanki secured the top three positions, raising serious doubts about the sanctity of the board, a complainant has claimed.
The Secretary of Secondary Education Vasudev Yadav has already been removed by the government following complaints of discrepancies against him and leakage of high school results to a newspaper on June 25.
