Probe into attack on diplomat on right track, says P Chidambaram

NEW DELHI: Government said the probe into the terror attack on an Israeli diplomat was going on right track but refused to comment on reports which suggested Iran's involvement in it.

"The investigation is progressing in the right direction. Some good intelligence have been gathered and the Delhi Police which is in-charge of investigation is working with our agencies," Home Minister P Chidambaram said on the progress of the investigation into the terror attack here on February 13.

Asked to comment on a media report that suggested Iran's involvement in the attack, he said, "I don't wish to make comment on what another country's agencies are saying."

Israeli daily Ha'aretz had quoted an unnamed Israeli security officer as saying that Indian intelligence agencies have "considerable evidence" of Iran's involvement in the terror strike on the Israeli diplomat but are not releasing it in a bid to avoid public confrontation with Tehran.

The Home Minister said the Delhi Police, which has been investigating the case, conveyed to him that they were confident of cracking the case.

Tal Yehoshua (40), wife of Israeli Defence Attache, who is also working in the Embassy and an Indian driver of the embassy vehicle, was among the four people injured in the blast after a magnetic bomb stuck to it went off.
