HYDERABAD: State Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy today said that supporters of united Andhra Pradesh -- who are opposed to bifurcation for the creation of Telangana state -- should not take the law in their hands during their agitation.

Samaikhyandhra (United Andhra Pradesh) Students' Joint Action Committee has given a call for protest against the arrest of some of its leaders in Guntur.

"Samaikyandhra agitators are advised not to take law in their hands by indulging in road/rail blockades, he said.

As long as the agitation was peaceful, police would have no objection, he said, warning that if there was violence, police will deal with it sternly.

Reports from Guntur said that JAC has called for shut-down of educational institutions today to protest alleged arrest of JAC leaders during Union minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao's visit there.
